Molecor, as a member of the plastics industry, is aware of its responsibility in order to prevent the use of pellets or other plastic particles used in the production process of the TOM® pipes and ecoFITTOM® PVC-O fittings, from the discharge of raw materials until the shipment of the product, through recycling, end up in the environment.

For this reason, the company has joined the Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) program, signing its commitment to prevent the loss of pellets at its facilities.

The Operation Clean Sweep (OCS) project is a global and voluntary initiative of the plastics industry to reduce the loss of primary microplastics, in any of their forms: pellets, flakes or dust, to the environment.

The objective of this program is: Zero Loss of Chippings.

In Spain, ANAIP, the Spanish Association of Industrial Plastics, is promoting this initiative, carried out in collaboration with Plastics Europe, who is the leader of the program in Europe.

This program applies to the entire value chain of plastic materials, this is the reason why it is so important that all the actors involved become aware of it, for this reason, Molecor will communicate to its suppliers and customers its initiative to join the program and advise them to sign also this commitment.

For the implementation of the program it is important to identify all the points of the industrial facilities that may generate loss of plastic particles, and after evaluating the situation, determine the needs and implement the necessary improvements in facilities and equipment to avoid the loss of chipping to the environment. These actions include, among others, the implementation of containment measures to prevent the chipping from reaching the public network, implementation of new cleaning plans or the drafting of work regulations.

A very important aspect in the effective implementation of the OCS program is that all employees must be responsible for supervising and managing the control of the pellets. To do this, an awareness and training program for all staff is necessary to actively participate in the prevention of spills that is being developed.

All these measures must be monitored with different types of indicators that allow the improvement of the established procedures to be measured. These indicators will be integrated into the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System that Molecor already has implemented and certified.

In order to show the commitment to the correct sustainable development of the planet, and within its environmental sustainability strategy, Molecor will proceed to verify by an independent institution the correct implementation and monitoring of the OCS program.

Water is life. It is the most important and essential element to make life exists. It is not a coincidence that Earth and humans beings are made up of water by 70%. In other planets, there is no life because this element does not exist in a liquid state.

In the middle of this climate crisis, we must be conscious this element is more and more scarce, and, at the same time, more requested. The recent absence of rainfalls and abundant droughts are the main problem.

We hope that the show was informative and of interest to you: We were displaying our wide range of automatic valves for water and wastewater including GA Industries ECO-Centric® Plug Valve, Waste Water Air Valve and Sewage Surge Relief Valve along with the customized VAG products RIKO® Plunger Valve, EKN® Butterfly Valve and the DUOJET® Air Valve.

A sophisticated technology makes these valves control professionals in almost any application. They come with a one-piece, streamlined body, regulate large amounts of water safely and reliably and – they can fly...

We must admit that they cannot fly on their own. But with cranes, several of these whoppers weighing up to 25 tons are lifted into a tunnel system at the same time. Awesome, right?

After a four-year development, the European Committee for standardization (CEN) has published the first European Standard for PVC-O pipes and fittings: EN 17176 “Plastics piping systems for water supply and for buried and above ground drainage, sewerage and irrigation under pressure - Oriented unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-O)”.

Up to now, underground hydrants have mainly been coated with 2 coating systems, inside enamelled and outside epoxy. The seams of the two coating systems and the resulting defects were unavoidable. The new VAG standard is a complete epoxy powder coating (EPP). It eliminates seams between 2 coating systems and thus provides even better protection against corrosion.
